FOX News’ Sean Hannity responds to #FireColbert movement

FOX News anchor Sean Hannity is not supporting the #FireColbert movement amid the fallout behind Stephen Colbert’s controversial Donald Trump joke.

Hannity took to Twitter this week to respond to the outcry and revealed that he’s against “all boycotts.” That being said, he didn’t have kind words for Colbert, an outspoken Trump critic.

“I will NOT support #FireColbert,” he tweeted. “I am vs ALL BOYCOTTS. He is a horrible human being, but if u don’t like him change the channel.”

During his monologue on Tuesday night, Colbert said “the only thing your mouth is good for is being Vladimir Putin’s c— holster” about President Trump. The joke was called “homophobic” on Twitter and prompted a #FireColbert movement from Republicans.

Colbert reacted to the uproar during his monologue on Wednesday and said he doesn’t regret saying it, though he might tweak the joke if he were to say it again.

“While I would do it again, I would change a few words that were cruder than they needed to be,” Colbert said. “I’m not going to repeat the phrase, but I just want to say for the record, life is short, and anyone who expresses their love for another person, in their own way, is to me, an American hero.”

This isn’t the only time Hannity has addressed major controversies this week. According to sources inside FOX News, the anchor called a meeting with his 30-person staff on Tuesday to dispel rumors that he would be leaving the network. Rumors had been swirling that he would be leaving the network amid the exits of Bill O’Reilly and Bill Shine as fallout from sexual harassment claims continues to hurt FOX.
