Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen are back, exactly as we remember them.
Beginning May 1, nostalgic fans can stream iconic movies like “Billboard Dad” (1998), “Passport to Paris” (1999) and “Switching Goals” (1999) on Hulu.
So what are the 32-year-old twins been up to since the days of “Full House”? Read on:
Not-So Humble Beginnings
Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, born June 13, 1986, in Los Angeles, first made their names at only 9 months old thanks to their acting debut as infants on “Full House.”
Through their teen years, Mary-Kate and Ashley continued to find success on the screen, starring in a series of direct-to-video films like “Our Lips Are Sealed” (2000), “When in Rome” (2002) and “The Challenge” (2003).
The Olsen twins also had their own animated series, “Mary-Kate and Ashley in Action!”, television series, “Two of a Kind” and “So Little Time,” and a feature length-film, “New York Minute.”
They also guest-starred on various hit television shows, including “All My Children,” “Sister Sister,” “7th Heaven” and “The Simpsons.”
On their 18th birthday in 2004, the Olsen twins became co-presidents of their entertainment company Dualstar that was originally started after their success on “Full House.”
Life After Acting
While the Olsen twins have always pursued fashion and retail, including coming out with clothing lines for preteens for Walmart and JCPenney, the pair also made a successful foray into high fashion following their fame as child actresses.
In 2006, the Olsen twins came out with a high-end fashion label, The Row, with prices of average pieces ranging from several hundred dollars to several thousand dollars. The fashion house continues to be respected by trendsetters around the world, and today, the brand is available at hundreds of stores in dozens of countries around the world with its flagship location in New York City.
They also started a more affordable label in 2007, Elizabeth and James, that features a more contemporary collection inspired by their own bohemian style.
Mary-Kate continued acting after the twins’ 18th birthday, appearing in movies like “Factory Girl” (2006) and “Beastly” (2011), and on television shows like “Weeds” before officially retiring from acting in 2012.
She began a relationship around that time with Olivier Sarkozy, a U.S.-based French banker and the half-brother of the French president at the time, Nicolas Sarkozy. The pair wed in November 2015.
The wedding ceremony was the center of much speculation at the time, with sources reporting “bowls and bowls filled with cigarettes, and everyone smoked the whole night.”
While Mary-Kate and her beau keep their family life under wraps, she gave a rare glimpse into her married life in an interview with The Edit in 2017.
“I think we’re lucky [working hard] comes quite naturally for us. We don’t need so much time to sit and think and ponder. But then I have a husband, two stepkids and a life; I have to go home and cook dinner. I ride horses on the weekends.”
Mary-Kate has also been an equestrian all her life, and while she gave up the sport briefly during her stint at New York University, she continues to ride horses competitively and is seen annually competing in the Hampton Classic Horse Show in Bridgehampton, New York.
While Ashley gave up acting after their 2004 feature film “New York Minute,” she made minor appearances in movies and appeared in the music video for “City of Angels” by Thirty Seconds to Mars.
During her time at New York University, she began pondering what it takes to create the perfect T-shirt, which led her to developing The Row.

Ashley has largely dedicated herself to fashion ever since retiring from acting, often staying out of the public eye except occasionally appearing on best dressed lists (Mary-Kate, however, finds herself on both the best and worst dressed lists due to her controversial fashion choices).
Ashley gave a rare glimpse into her insecurities with regard to The Row in last month’s issue of British Vogue and acknowledged her concerns that their past as child actors would cloud their buyers’ judgement.
“It was very hard at the beginning,” Ashley remembered. “And actually, probably until the past couple of years. But we don’t take things personally.”
