The Rhode Island Affiliate of the American Civil Liberties Union said Thursday it wants the state Supreme Court to review the results of a close election in Pawtucket.
The Board of Elections said state Rep. William San Bento Jr. defeated challenger Carlos Tobon by one vote in the Sept. 11 Democratic primary in House District 58.
The Board of Elections certified the result after several recounts. It denied Tobon’s request for a recount by hand.
The RI ACLU said questions have been raised about allegedly lost mail ballots, differing vote tallies and the board’s refusal to do a manual recount.
