Who among us didn’t have a crush on Angie Dickinson?

Born in 1931, the North Dakota native became a Hollywood hit in the mid-1950s, when casting agents took notice and quickly added her to one TV show after another. But her big breakthrough came in 1959, when she co-starred with John Wayne in “Rio Bravo,” cementing her as one of the most recognizable faces in the world. She’d later become the first-ever female TV cop in her own show “Police Woman.”

Through the 1960s and ’70s, she was as popular for her on-screen work as she was for her personal life. A tabloid sensation, she allegedly had affairs with Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and John F. Kennedy. Whew!

In 1965, Angie wed Burt Bacharach, and she had her only child, Lea Nikki. Angie and Burt split after 15 years.

Unfortunately, years down the line, tragedy would strike when their daughter committed suicide at 40 years old in 2007. A sufferer of Asperger syndrome, she spent most of her teenage years in a psychiatric facility.

Now 87 years old, Angie lives in Los Angeles.

“I came along at the right time for so many great things,” she said in 2010. “I met some great stars and stayed friends with many and lovers with some. It was a fantastic life, really. And it still is.”
