Rhode Island Gov. Lincoln Chafee and other state leaders are touring sites in Baltimore to gather information about that city’s efforts to encourage medical and research industries.
Chafee, an independent, is joined on the daylong trip Friday by Providence Mayor Angel Taveras, the House speaker and the Senate president.
The group plans to visit the University of Maryland Medical Center and BioPark, a bioscience innovation and research center. Chafee says it’s a potential model for the creation of a medical, life-sciences and research hub in Providence.
Chafee made a similar trip to Houston’s Texas Medical Center in February.
