I-Team: Wyatt Center pays out $80,000 for settlement

NBC 10’s I-Team has learned that an $80,000.00 settlement was paid to someone who filed a complaint against the former CEO of the Wyatt Detention Center, Michael V. Fair.

In response to an open records request, Margaret M. Lynch-Gadaleta, legal counsel for the Wyatt Facility, says “ there was a settlement payment of $80,000.00 made as a resolution to a complaint made against Michael V. Fair in his role as CEO at Wyatt.”

Lynch-Gadaleta says $50,000.00 was paid by the Wyatt Corporation, and $30,000.00 was paid by Wyatt’s insurance company.

Fair left the his position on Dec. 23, 2012 by what Wyatt officials called a “ mutual agreement .”

Fair’s contract was set to expire on Dec. 31, 2012.  He was paid $236,000.00 per year.

Lynch-Gadaleta would not comment on the nature of the complaint. But two sources have told the I-Team that the nature of the complaint was sexual harassment.
