Langevin honored by US Olympic Committee

Rhode Island U.S. Rep. Jim Langevin has been honored by the U.S. Olympic Committee for his work in Congress supporting the Paralympic movement.

Langevin chairs the Congressional Olympic and Paralympic Caucus along with Rep. Dave Reichert, of Washington, who was also honored Monday.

The caucus is a bipartisan group that works to support Olympic and Paralympic sport. The Paralympics provides a venue for athletes with physical and visual disabilities.

Langevin says it is an honor to support the Olympics and Paralympics. He praised in particular the Paralympic Military Program, which supports wounded veterans of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan
