U.S. Rep. Jim Langevin is visiting Westerly to tour local businesses and discuss jobs at a town hall meeting.
The Tuesday visit was scheduled before Tropical Storm Irene hit Rhode Island. Gov. Lincoln Chafee visited the town on Monday to assess storm damage.
Langevin planned to make his first stop at Maxson Automatic Machinery Company late Tuesday morning, then visit the Westerly Community Credit Union early in the afternoon.
Spokesman Jonathon Dworkin says both locations have electricity and are open for business.
The town hall meeting will be held at Wilcox Park outside the Westerly Public Library at 5:30 p.m.
