President Trump serves fast food to Clemson in bizarre White House visit

If you were visiting the White House, you’d probably expect a pretty elegant food spread, right?

Well that wasn’t happening for the Clemson football team. When speaking with reporters Monday morning, President Trump said that the Tigers will have an array of fast food to choose from when they make their scheduled visit to Washington D.C. later Monday.

McDonald’s? Burger King? Wendy’s? Pizza? It would all be there, according to the president.

“The Clemson national championship team will be coming tonight. It will be exciting,” Trump said. “Very great team. An unbelievable team. I think we’re going to serve McDonald’s, Wendy’s and Burger Kings with some pizza. I really mean it. It will be interesting. I would think that’s their favorite food.”

Trump was a man of his word on this issue. Here’s the food that was served Monday evening.

Per the White House, Trump himself paid for the food because the government shutdown left much of the White House staff on a furlough.

Trump also refused to pick a side when he was asked to choose from the great American food in front of him.

It is the offseason, after all, so maybe Dabo Swinney’s strength and nutrition staff will let the guys slide on the kind of food they’re putting into their bodies. It was on nice dinnerware at least.

Nonetheless, it was a pretty interesting experience to visit the White House. Of course, some of the Clemson players had already made the trip. The team was honored by President Trump in the summer of 2017 after the program’s previous national championship victory over Alabama to cap off the 2016 season.

And for Swinney, it was his third time. The Clemson coach won a national title as a player at Alabama in the early ’90s.
