The Rhode Island Turnpike and Bridge Authority will hold public hearings next month on a report that looks at the feasibility at putting tolls back on the Mount Hope Bridge.
The RITBA said its exploring putting tolls on the bridge as one way of ensuring there is enough money to maintain the Mount Hope and Pell bridges.
A report by a New York company outlined five potential tolling options. The RITBA said all of them include discounts for drivers with Rhode Island E-ZPass transponders.
The cost of building a toll plaza at the Mount Hope Bridge is between $2.3 million and $3.2 million.
The public hearings are set for 7 p.m. Oct. 5 at Jacky’s Galaxie, 383 Metacom Ave. in Bristol and 7 p.m. Oct. 6 at Portsmouth High School.
