Rally at State House protests soda tax

A rally was held at the State House on Tuesday to protest a proposed tax hike that would raise the cost of sugary drinks in Rhode Island by as much as 50 percent.

The bill would add to the cost of any beverage containing sugar including, juice, tea, sports drinks, energy drinks and soda.

A 12-pack of soda would increase by $1.44 and the cost of a two-liter bottle would go up by 67 cents.
