Jeffrey Plumb, chairman of the Portsmouth Republican Town Committee, says residents from both parties have told him Gordon should resign.
Gordon’s arrest this month on charges stemming from a 2008 police chase brought to light a four-month prison sentence he served in 1999 for assault.
The 42-year-old Portsmouth Republican blames alcohol he says he used to fight post-traumatic stress following a shrapnel injury in the 1991 Gulf War.

Gordon did not return calls seeking comment Tuesday. He has said the military’s record is incomplete and that he has no plans to resign.
