Rep. Gordon writing a book

A state lawmaker facing calls to resign over questions about his criminal background and military service says he has begun writing an autobiography.

State Rep. Daniel Gordon told The Associated Press he has no plans for publishing the book but thinks his life story will be “interesting.”

The Portsmouth Republican says he has finished about a dozen “rough” pages that chronicle his childhood, education and entry into military service.

Gordon has blamed a string of legal troubles on alcohol use to cope with combat stress from the 1991 Gulf War, though Marine Corps records show no Middle East service.

Gordon says he has always wanted to write a book but hasn’t had “the discipline.” He says he has no intention of stepping down and plans to run again.
