Rhode Island’s congressmen are set to discuss ways to promote business growth at separate events in the state, which has the highest jobless rate in New England.

U.S. Rep. Jim Langevin is set to visit businesses in North Kingstown on Tuesday. The Democrat is expected to address ways businesses and educational institutions can cooperate to help students acquire the skills needed by state employers with job openings.

Meanwhile, in Smithfield, Democratic Rep. David Cicilline is hosting a forum at Bryant University to help teach Ocean State businesses how to take advantage of international exporting opportunities.

Rhode Island’s unemployment rate was 10.9 percent in April, making it the New England state with the highest rate of joblessness.
