Rhode Island’s Secretary of State is set to use a device borrowed from the state lottery to select the order of names for the state’s April 24 presidential primary ballot.
Secretary of State Ralph Mollis plans to use numbered plastic balls to decide the order on the ballot Wednesday. The candidates on the state’s primary ballot are Newt Gingrich, Ron Paul, Mitt Romney, Rick Santorum and Buddy Roemer.
Barack Obama faces no opposition on the state’s Democratic presidential primary ballot. Those voting in either party’s primary will also have the option of picking “uncommitted.”
Votes wishing to participate in the primary must register to vote by March 24.
