Central Falls City Hall was closed Monday because of a burst water pipe.
The pipe burst near the City Council chambers on the second floor, which flooded the finance office on the floor below. The pipe may have been leaking since the weekend.
Gayle Corrigan, who oversees city operations for the receiver that runs the city, tells NBC 10’s Brian Crandall the city’s finance office took the brunt of the damage.
The building also sustained damage in the finance officer where the ceiling collapsed.
Paper records got wet and computers were soaked.
All scheduled meetings, municipal court hearings and events have been postponed.
City officials said they are working with disaster recovery contractors to fix the damage.
The city said it hopes to have City Hall reopened by the end of the week.
Public safety and public works services are not affected.
