Whitehouse to hold hearing on teen violence

U.S. Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse is scheduled to hold a field hearing in Rhode Island on ways to prevent teen violence.

The Rhode Island Democrat plans to visit William E. Tolman Senior High School in Pawtucket on Friday to chair a hearing on strategies for protecting teenagers from dating violence and bullying. The hearing will include testimony from state advocates on programs designed to reduce abuse.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, one in four adolescents reports verbal, physical, emotional or sexual abuse from a boyfriend or girlfriend each year.
