LOS ANGELES (AP) — Chase Utley’s assertive baserunning pennyless Mets shortstop Ruben Tejada’s right leg in a takeout slide, reviving a Los Angeles Dodgers and angering a New York players.

Utley’s slip flipped Tejada during a four-run convene in a seventh inning that helped a Dodgers win 5-2 Saturday night and tie their NL Division Series during one diversion apiece.

“I feel terrible that he was injured. we had no vigilant to harm him whatsoever,” pronounced Utley, who had reached with a pinch-hit single. “Any time there’s a double play we should do your best to mangle it up.”

The Mets were heading 2-1 when a Dodgers put runners during a corners with one out opposite Noah Syndergaard. Bartolo Colon came on in his initial career postseason service coming after 10 starts, and Howie Kendrick strike a grounder adult a middle.

“I attempted to put a physique on him to mangle adult a double play,” Utley pronounced of Tejada. “You have to try and mangle adult a double play. That’s winning baseball.”

Murphy flipped to Tejada, who took a chuck awkwardly for an apparent force as Utley slid maybe a feet outward of a bottom and past a bag and slammed into a shortstop with Tejada’s behind incited to a play. That caused Tejada to flip over as a restraining run scored from third.

Mets infielder Kelly Johnson called it a “tackle.” Asked about a play, second baseman Daniel Murphy said, “Slide would be generous.”

“Only Chase knows going in there what a vigilant was,” third baseman David Wright said. “I have a problem with a play on a array of opposite levels, one being a slip itself. In my opinion, he wasn’t anywhere tighten to a bag. With that being said, he never overwhelmed a bag. And we consider a ‘neighborhood play’ is there to strengthen players. … It really seemed like after that play we mislaid a movement and they came adult with some large hits.”

Joe Torre, MLB’s arch ball officer, will inspect a play to establish either anything “excessive” occurred.

“I’d hatred to consider that Utley attempted to harm somebody,” Torre said. “It positively was late. That concerns me. The lateness of a slide.”

Tejada was put on a flatbed car after an atmosphere expel was placed on his leg. The Mets pronounced Tejada postulated a fractured right fibula. Utley was ruled protected on a video review, that dynamic Tejada’s feet missed a bag. Utley also seemed not to hold a base.

“Tejada showed that he didn’t hold a bag and Utley never overwhelmed second base,” Torre said. “The fact that he was called out meant he’s not compulsory to hold second bottom once he’s called out. So when a play was overturned, he gets awarded second bottom on that.”

Mets manager Terry Collins wouldn’t contend either he suspicion a slip was purify or not. He pronounced a umpires were “great” in how they rubbed a review.

“They suspicion that it’s flattering tough to order that he didn’t hold a bag when he strike a shortstop and nobody was tagged, so they have no other call,” he said, “so they rubbed it right.”

Adrian Gonzalez followed with a two-run double off Addison Reed and scored on Justin Turner’s double

“Every singular man on a margin on both sides, both dugouts, would have finished a same thing,” Gonzalez said. “It was huge. Got a diversion tied, and after a replay, gave us a rally.”

There was some story between Utley and Tejada. The Mets were harm during a takeout slip by Utley when he played for Philadelphia opposite them in Sep 2010.

“Yeah, they’re angry,” Collins pronounced of his players. “You remove in a playoff array to that critical of an injury, yeah, they’re not really happy about it.”

Dodgers manager Don Mattingly shielded Utley.

“I know Chase is not perplexing to harm anybody,” he said. “He’s only personification a diversion a approach he plays it. He plays it hard, he’s aggressive.”
