Four money-saving ways to lose weight

Walking regularly is a free and easy way to lose weight.

You don’t have to buy pricey health foods or pay for an expensive gym membership to lose weight. Today, we offer some suggestions to help you slim down while keeping money in your wallet.

1. Drink more water.

Unlike soda, juices and sports drinks, water is free and doesn’t contain sugars or artificial sweeteners. Before chowing down on a large meal, drink a glass of water — it will make you feel fuller faster, cutting down your food consumption.

2. Walk more.

Do you regularly drive to places that are less than a mile away? With the amount you will have to spend in gas money, it may be a better idea to walk. If you live close to your job or places where you regularly run errands, consider trading in your car for your feet. You’ll burn many more calories walking than you would sitting.

3. Plan meals ahead of time.

Spending $10 a day for lunch may not seem like much, but it could cost you over $200 a month. Decide how much money you want to spend on food each month and buy groceries to create meals within that budget. You should also include healthy snacks in your plans so you don’t waste extra money on candy and items from vending machines.

4. Save leftovers.

Many restaurant servings are much larger than what someone should actually eat in one sitting. When eating out, only consume half of your meal and take the rest home. When cooking at home, prepare an extra serving that can be used the next day for lunch.

Losing weight might also lower your life insurance premiums. Be sure to research life insurance quotes at to see how your lower weight will affect your life insurance premiums.  Additionally, by saving money with the above weight-loss tips, you might be able to budget extra money for a life insurance policy.
