My mom

My mom, Dawn Hochsprung, was a principal during Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut.

Six months ago today, she was shot and killed in her school, along with 5 of her coworkers and 20 of her students.

In a weeks and months after that terrible day, lawmakers from opposite a nation told us, a families of a victims, that they’d take movement to make a communities safer. What we found out is that, for some of a members of Congress, those were dull promises.

And in those 6 months, thousands some-more people have been killed by guns.

I’ve been doing all we can to strech out to members of Congress. But my voice isn’t enough. Today, on a six-month anniversary of Newtown, each singular chairman who cares about shortening gun assault in America needs to recommit to this fight.

More than 1.4 million Americans have pronounced they’re with us in a quarrel to revoke gun violence—add your name today.

In her final minutes, Mom was only as dauntless and caring as we knew her to be. After revelation everybody to hide, she went using into a hallway, saw a gunman, yelled and lunged during him in an bid to strengthen a propagandize she loved.

I skip her each second of each day. I’m removing married in only a few weeks—to a male she was rooting for, in a dress we picked out together—but since a dangerous male got his hands on a gun, my mom won’t be there to see it.

I’m still grieving—and I’m not alone. On average, 33 Americans are killed by a gun each singular day. That’s 33 new families a day who weep like we do.

If a credentials check saves even one life, and keeps even one family from spiteful like this, afterwards this quarrel will all be value it. we consider my mom would like to know that a tragedy that fell on Newtown meant that another tragedy could be stopped before it even started.

I’m seeking we to join me today, 6 months after that terrible day, to keep this quarrel going—take movement for my mom, Dawn, and a 25 other people who we mislaid in December.

Say you’re with us today.
