Washington, D.C. – Speaker Nancy Pelosi issued the following statement on the retirement of Congressman Dave Loebsack who announced today he will leave the Congress at the end of his current term:
“For 13 years, Congressman Dave Loebsack has been a proud champion for the hard-working men and women of Iowa. His dedicated leadership and uncompromising values have been instrumental in helping Democrats deliver progress in the lives of all Americans.
“Throughout his time in Congress, Congressman Loebsack has brought his vision and expertise to the fight to lift up America’s farmers, seniors and veterans. His tireless mission to expand rural broadband and ensure every American has access to quality, affordable health care has been critical to the health and economic strength of Iowans and all Americans. As an advocate for biofuels and renewal energy, Congressman Loebsack’s voice has been essential in moving our nation toward a clean energy future while preserving our environment for generations to come.
“When Congressman Loebsack retires at the end of this term, Congress, Iowa and the nation will be losing a public servant of character and distinction. He will leave a legacy of service that is sure to inspire countless others to follow in his footsteps.
