San Francisco – Speaker Nancy Pelosi issued this statement marking two years since House Republicans voted for their monstrous Trumpcare bill, which would have gutted protections for people with pre-existing conditions and taken away the affordable, quality health care of millions:

“Two years ago, House Republicans viciously voted to gut protections for people with pre-existing conditions and take away the affordable, quality health care of millions – and then threw themselves a party in the Rose Garden to celebrate.

“Today, even after the American people resoundingly rejected the Republicans’ attacks on their health care and financial security, the GOP continues to wage a monstrous campaign to take away families’ affordable, quality health care – this week, doubling down yet again on their demands that the courts throw out the entirety of the ACA and its life-saving protections.

“Next week, the Democratic House will vote on a bill to strengthen protections for people with pre-existing conditions, and will continue to work to lower the cost of health care and the price of prescription drugs.  The American people elected a Democratic House Majority to protect their health care, and that is exactly what we will do.”
